The College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD) is having its next conference in June 2012 in Palm Springs, California.
This is NIDA's primary conference on research into drug dependence and treatment, and is well worth attending.
Visit the website for the CSAT travel awards. There are actually 6 types of travel awards.

As you may know, Julie Krow, ARTS Deputy Executive Director will be leaving us at the end of August to join the Colorado Department of Human Services as Director of the Office of Children, Youth and Families.
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Libby Whitmore has been appointed as ARTS next Deputy Executive Director.
Dr. Whitmore is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, and received her master's degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iowa. She is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and has over 18 years of experience in the substance abuse/mental health field. Since 1999, Dr. Whitmore has served ARTS as the Director of Synergy's Outpatient Service, including outpatient services, Multisystemic Therapy Services (MST), day treatment, and a forensic evaluation service. The program she directs recently won the 2010 "Science and Service" award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
Dr. Whitmore joined ARTS in 1992, so she is very knowledgeable about all of our treatment programs. She is an active faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry, and has regularly taught medical students and psychiatry residents, as well given numerous local, state, and national presentations. She has published over 20 papers in the substance dependence field, and most recently, she co-authored the Colorado Division of Behavioral Health's Practice Guidelines for Adolescents with Co-occurring Substance and Psychiatric Disorders. She has also been actively involved in research on substance dependence via grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, National Institutes of Mental Health, National Institute on Drug Dependence, and the Colorado Health Foundation.

I am pleased to announce that the Signal Board of Directors has selected Michael Jenet to be Signal’s next Chief Executive Officer effective June 1, 2011. Mr. Jenet has been with Signal for three years, first as the Chief Technology Officer in 2008 and more recently stepping into the role as the Interim CEO after Bill Wendt’s unexpected passing in 2010.
Although no one can replace Bill Wendt, Mr. Jenet will bring his own management expertise, style, and vision to Signal and the board is excited to have him leading the company. On behalf of the Board of Directors I look forward to Signal’s continued success and I hope you will join me in congratulating Michael on his new position.
